Also known as brief therapy or time-limited therapy, Short Term therapy refers to solution-based therapy with a distinct goal in mind (for example, looking at patterns of negative thinking). The short-term counselling has a tighter focus than long-term therapy and spans twelve sessions. The sessions provide an opportunity to explore problems in depth with the therapist in order to achieve greater self-awareness and to explore the possibility of change.
Together with their therapist’s clients agree a specific goal to work towards with subsequent weekly one-to-one sessions each lasting for 50 minutes.
Short term therapy can be particularly helpful when experiencing problems for instances:
bereavement
bullying and harassment
poor performance at work
relationship difficulties
redundancy
stress, anxiety and depression
traumatic incidents
Fee structure
Fees are calculated on a sliding scale depending on income. There is an initial in-depth consultation and the fee for this is £45. The fee for short term psychodynamic therapy is calculated according to income bands with a minimum of £25 and a maximum of £45 per session.
You will be expected to pay for missed or cancelled sessions, except for those cancelled by the therapist.
